Oak Beam Case Study: Purdey’s

Purdey’s is a world famous manufacturer and retailer of shotguns and all things pertinent to the sport of shooting. They operate out of prestigious and historic premises in Mayfair in the heart of London, where we worked with them to elevate the distinct look and feel of their store.

What did the project involve?

The brief was to find two special pieces of reclaimed oak that would act as a counterpoint and complement to the traditional atmosphere of this headquarters of English heritage.

Where did Oakbeamuk.com excel?

Both beams had to meet the exacting standards required in order to create the desired visual and atmospheric effect. Because reclaimed oak is inherently characterful and because each beam would stand out as a focal point within the store, this meant selecting immaculate pieces of timber that would stand up to scrutiny and exceed the discerning quality expected by the client.

How long did it take you to complete?

The two pieces chosen now stand strategically placed at the centre of the store. Their impressive width and unusual shapes, together with the beauty of their textured finish, make these pieces stand out and act as a dramatic contrast to the serried ranks of finely carved antique shotguns. English heritage stores deserve timber to match.
