Tesco Euphorium Bakery

Oak Beam Case Study: Euphorium

Euphorium is the artisanal bakery brand owned by Tesco that runs out of five stores in central London. Our oak went into the most recently opened outlet, a stone’s throw from the Bank of England, in the heart of the City of London.

The look, feel, and ambience of this new format flagship store is very different from the rest of the chain, which are all consistently presented to a standardised template and which now look heavily used and rather tired. The City outlet recognised this and used our finished reclaimed oak to provide both visual interest and also a bold central focus.

What did the project involve?

Instead of being part of the background mis-en-scene, the boards were used to create five dramatic centre consoles, forming the core of the space.

The figuring, colour, patination, and texture of the old wood speaks to quality, interest, and a cutting edge confidence suitable for the dynamic and demanding clientele that use the store.

Where did Oakbeamuk.com excel?

Because the oak was to form such a central feature and be used for furniture in a very high traffic environment, the boards needed to be individually selected for their suitability and appeal. This kind of detailed selection and hand-picked judgement is a particular forte of Oakbeamuk.com.
